What Causes a Cold?
- There are more than 200 different kinds of cold viruses
- The most common is the rhinovirus, from “rhino” (Greek for “nose”), where the cold virus commonly enters the body
- People put their hands to their eyes and noses nearly 50 times a day
- If you touch a contaminated surface, it’s easy to spread the virus to yourself and others by touching your nose and eyes
